RttE Season 6 Thoughts

While watching the new season, I jotted down all my thoughts and opinions of the events as I first saw them. I'm gonna put all that here... so you could think of this post as my live reaction to the final season of the series!

Dragons: Race to the Edge | Season 6 Trailer

Well, looks like season 6 is right around the corner! This trailer dropped just recently, and in ten days we'll have the next season landing on Netflix! I'll give a little micro-review of what the trailer shows, but do be warned, if you haven't been watching the show, there are spoilers!

RttE Rant: Quit Breaking the Fourth-Wall!

In all honesty, I usually try to stay positive on my blog. I think this is because I know what it is like to love something, and then to find posts on it, and then to sit there and watch the writer rip the thing you enjoyed to shreds. It’s not a good feeling. Sooooo… when I watch RttE, I usually don’t come away thinking, “wow, that was great”. My feelings are almost always mixed or negative towards the television show (with the occasional episode that really does get my attention and make me appreciate it), but that doesn’t mean I want to constantly blog negative things about the show. I understand that people put a lot of work into making it, and at the bare minimum it is nice for HTTYD to still be getting love and attention. However, today I’m gonna take a little dive into the valley of criticism. If you just adore Race To The Edge, and you think the series is perfect, you might just want to cruise on by and skip this post. RttE: Dawn of Destruction

Hi all! We have a new season of RttE, and I've been working my way through it. Sorry for the lack of recent posts. I'm in grad school working in a PhD program. I'm also working on an original story, and I'd really like to see that get published in one medium or another once I've finished it. Between those two things, I'll probably be a little more absent. Sorry about that. However, I will certainly write a lot about the third movie when it comes out, and I'll try and keep up with the series as well. 

Speaking of that, I've watched up to the episode Dawn of Destruction, and I'm gonna give you my random stream of thoughts that I wrote down while watching the episode. They aren't organized into pros and cons, just random things I thought while seeing the episode for the first time. Feel free to let me know what you thought of this episode! 

Analysis Request for Oencie

I've mentioned before that I am more than happy to take requests for this blog, and just recently a user named Oencie asked me to do one. It concerns two techniques Toothless has used in the RttE series. Now, since this is a request, it means I may or may not have actually given much thought to this before I was asked about it, but I will do my best to give you guys a short analysis! If anyone wishes to add to what I come up with in the comments, that would be great. Now, onto the analysis!

RttE: Season Four Microreview (part 2. The Cons!)

So, I assume I am not the only one who had a few issues with the new season. In this post, I'll list the things that I recall in the season that I felt were not the best. So, if you LOVED this season, please don't hate me for my opinions! They are just my take on things, so you don't have to read this post, and you also certainly don't have to agree with me! So, season four is finally out! I'm sure most of you who have Netflix have already seen it, and I've logged back into the HTTYD world in order to actually finally write something on my blog! I'm going to be honest in all my opinions about this season, but they really are just my opinions, and I', totally open to discussion. Click the read more to see the review.

Season four of RTTE is out now!

Ok, I have now finished watching the newest season! I did enjoy it, and I am considering doing another micro review of the entire season like what I did for season three. Here's the catch... I will be completely honest if I do make a review... and my opinion on certain developments may not match up with the vast majority of people who are enjoying the show. I don't want to come across as a hater or anything, but if you guys are interested in a review, please just pop me a comment to let me know :)

In other news, the reason I am so infrequent in my blog posts is because I am working (as a pizza delivery driver) and trying to finish up my last semester of college. I'm almost done! Man, delivering pizza would be so much more fun with a Night Fury...

I have also been strongly considering writing a completely original story. Not fan fiction, no borrowed characters, everything coming 100% from my own brain. It's pretty daunting, but I thought I'd toss the idea out to you guys. Haha, who knows... maybe one day I could actually get published and paid for writing stories! That would be nice.

Anyway, I'm going back and looking over the episodes now so as to get a good feel for them. Hope you all are having dragon-y good times :)

Strike Class Comparisons

The Strike Class has always been my favorite, but for a long time it was limited to two (incredibly cool) dragons. Now, thanks to the new Netflix series Race To The Edge, the Strike Class has doubled in number. The two new dragons are the Snow Wraith and the Triple Stryke. However, as much as I love the new dragons, I do confess that I don’t always agree with dragonpedia on how it distributes stats. For instance, Toothless shoots far past his set shot limit in the first movie when battling the Red Death (and don’t even get me started on his battle with the Bewilderbeast). Also, the new Triple Stryke is shown as having no venom… while at the same time the site claims it has three different kinds of poison in its tail. I appreciate the dragonpedia a ton… I just don’t always agree with it. So, I’ve had a fun little idea. I love comparative vertebrate anatomy, and I love dragons, so I am going to do my best to compare these four deadly dragons to one another. I must confess I will probably be biased, and I don’t expect you all to agree with me, but I am going to do my best to be objective. Ha, my younger brother has already claimed that in my system of stats, Toothless would come out on top of everything. RTTE: Stryke Out

Alright, I've been binge watching the new RTTE episodes, and so far THIS episode actually really engaged me! I enjoyed it a lot, more than most RTTE episodes. So, I will try and review it the same way I've reviewed most of the other episodes. 

Did someone say chess (or Maces and Talons)?

When I announced my return to the blog, several people asked me if I would write more about RttE. Well, this is my attempt to do so! Haha, I must confess I have not gone super in depth with the tv series, but last season was good, so it deserves more than the one post I gave it! The subject of this post will be Viggo Grimborn. There were two things I've seen people going nuts over after the series: Viggo Grimborn, and Hiccstrid. Since I'm not all that good at analyzing Hiccstrid, I thought I'd give our new frightening villain a shot. Hope you enjoy it.

Microreveiew of RttE season 2!

So, I have finished watching all the episodes in the second season of Race to the Edge, and I'm gonna write a quick review of the ENTIRE season. What this means is that I'm gonna try to give you as many pros and cons that I can remember, so we may get quite a nice list. If you are still on the fence about the seasons, maybe this will help you to decide whether you do (or don't) want to watch them.

RttE: Reign of Fireworms

Well this feels... weird! Haha, it has been a long time since I last reviewed an episode. To be fair, I kinda grilled that last one (sorry. It just felt very OOC for Hiccup), and that probably made me feel hesitant to review another one. But, I am going to press on! I actually am watching this episode over again because I hardly remember it. What I really look forward to is episode 10, but that one will have to wait just a little longer. So, want my review? Razor whip Dragon Sketch

So, this isn't anything huge, but I thought it would be fun to kinda get my head back into the game by doing a quick line art. It was pretty fun to do, and it is the first time I've ever drawn this dragon. Click the "read more" to see the entire sketch.

RttE: Gone Gustave Gone

Ok, so I am SORRY that is has been so long since I've continued reviewing RttE episodes! Man, school is just eating my time. But, I do have just enough time to move forward. Haha, I will also say that a few... well... negative vibes I got from this episode kept me from really wanting to review it. No worries, though, there are a couple episodes that I haven't reviewed that I LOVE, so I won't always have to pout like a big baby boo.

RttE: Big Man On Berk

Ok... I now continue on my quest to write at least small reviews on every RttE episode. Haha... yeah. This one is probably my least favorite of the series, so I am probably gonna struggle to find positive things to say about it. You have been warned. If you absolutely loved it, you may just want to skip this review. Haha, however, it has been a day since I've seen it, so maybe I will have forgotten a couple of things that I disliked!

RttE: When Darkness Falls

Alright, as promised I am going to continue with my reviews! I just re-watched this episode, and I must say I enjoyed it quite a lot the second time. Nothing overly deep or dramatic, but it is really just nice to sit through! Read on to see my overall opinion.

Quick RttE Update

I am going to continue to do reviews on the episodes. I've actually enjoyed watching the series so far! Gotten the occasional chill or chuckle or warm happy feeling, so I'd say things are going well! I really actually want to hurry and finish them, so because of that, I may not pause and do reviews as frequently. However, my goal is to do a review on all of them, so hopefully I will get to do that once I finish the first group. Hope everyone who is watching has enjoyed them!

RttE: Imperfect Harmony

Alright, next episode review. I know these are not long... nor particularly deep, but I am trying to make my way through the entire set of episodes. Once I'm done, I may be able to give some more thoughtful analysis on the new episodes as a whole. This next review will deal mostly with the Death Song, though of course I'll talk about other aspects of the episode as well.
