The Dragon in Amestris

So, this is somewhat random, but Inhonoredglory and Toothlesslove have shared some Fullmetal Alchemist/HTTYD crossover stories with me and I really like the concept! They recommended I write one, so I have put this small piece together. If you've seen Fullmetal Alchemist, this might be a fun read! If you've not finished it... it doesn't have any major spoilers, so it's pretty safe.

Anyway, I hope you like it!

Dsplash History: How the Gemwar Ended

Haha, well, this is my cop-out...

So, I really love the Dsplash story, but I don't think I can fully flesh it out and finish it. There are just a ton of events left, and what with grad school I have very limited time to devote to fandom stuff. I also do have an original story in the wings (that's been heavily inspired by my love for HTTYD and other stories on my top ten list, so I'm hoping the idea is at least half-way decent), so that makes it hard for me to devote time to a fan-fiction that probably breaks every copyright law in the universe!

That being said, I do want to write the last two Chronicles. If you've been following the story and want to see how it ends, this is my attempt to very roughly sketch out the events leading up to the finale. I will have at least two more Chronicles, and I plan to write them in full detail. If you want to know what happens between the last Chronicle I write and those last two, feel free to read this. Sorry for the low quality; hopefully the final chapters will be worth slogging through this plot dump ;)

The Chimera: Short Story By Toothlesslove

Toothlesslove uploaded her story, so I'm gonna share a link to it here. I'm really thankful for the shirt story, and I really, really enjoyed it! If you are interested, it is pretty much spoiler free concerning FMAB, and it does a great job portraying Hiccup (seriously, Toothlesslove, they should have you hgelping them write the tv series XD).

Here is the link: The Chimera

(Here is my short commentary on the story that I first wrote on the bday post) This story was really, really fun. Beautifully written, excellently paced, and it did a really, really good job at balancing two heroes in the limelight. It featured Hiccup meeting my favorite character from FMAB, Roy Mustang. Honestly, I find it tricky to have heroes meet, especially if they butt heads on certain principles ideas, and to not have it feel like a competition on who is cooler. I also think it is tricky to balance Hiccup against someone so powerful and commanding in combat as Roy, but Toothlesslove did a brilliant job making both of my favorites shine. It really did explore some beautiful themes, and most of all... it felt so, SO in-character. I know she hasn't had the chance to finish the show, so it was shocking to see how accurate the depiction of Roy Mustang was! Seeing him and Hiccup interact in the story felt really genuine, almost like it was canon! Also, man, the way the story ended made me extremely hooked to the notion of this cross-over... because it almost ends on a cliffhanger! I'd love to see more interactions between Hiccup and Roy. It felt so rich, and the storyline screamed potential! Thanks so much, Toothlesslove! I'm sure this took you a ton of time, and I really, really loved it!

The Courage of Link Flashblade Haddock

So, I know it took me AGES to actually write and publish this, but hopefully I've actually gotten enough steam to finally wrap up this story. I do love Dsplash, so I want it to have a fitting end, but I am just so short on free time, and these Chronicles take a lot of work and heart to compose. So, what I suppose I am saying is that I plan to finish the story out, but the Chronicles may (I'm not saying this for sure) start to hop around like they did at the beginning. We'll just have to wait and see what my schedule allows for.

So, as for the Chronicle itself, I'd advise re-reading the last one I published just to get a reminder of where we are in the story. Heck, if you'd like to read ones even further back, that would probably be good. This one is a MAJOR plot event, so be prepared. It was so hard to write this... because I knew it was one of my most defining plot moments, so I didn't want to mess it up. Hopefully it will have been worth the wait!

How Many More

Ok, finally! I know this Chronicle took me a while to produce, and I apologize for that! I was pretty busy for the first big chunk of the summer, so I wasn't able to write (plus my computer kept over heating). Now that I finally got some spare time, I sat down and finished the Chronicle. It's not the best one, but it will move you along in the plot. Things are certainly getting serious, so I hope you'll enjoy it, and please feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comments. I only got to read through this one a few times, so there are probably some grammar mistakes. Still, I hope that won't detract from the story.

Celebration of Light

Well, here is my next Chronicle. I hope you will all enjoy it. If you plan to read it, do know that you NEED to read the one I posted before it before you read this one. Anyway, this one is a lot less intense than most of them, and it was pretty fun (though difficult) to write. I do hope you will enjoy it if you get to read it. Apologies for any grammar/spelling errors I make! I have only checked over this one a couple of times. The Chronicle is about thirteen pages if placed in a document form. So, click the read more to see the continuation of Hiccup and Toothless's struggled against the Gemnodes.

Exodus

Alright! We have my most recent Chronicle all ready to post! Sorry about still being somewhat absent. I am going on a long trip this summer, and I am trying to spend some time with my friends and family. However, I will have my laptop on this trip, and I plan to still make posts! I may or may not be able to do as much art... but I should finally be able to crank out some analyses! So, thanks to everyone for their patience. So far, everyone who I have allowed to pre-read this Chronicle (including Inhonoredglory) have really liked it, so I hope you will enjoy it as well. It is a pretty climactic one!

Also, the above art piece is my first real digital art of a Gemnode. This one is Venevonix Diamond. He may not look like your typical HTTYD villain, but he and Hiccup certainly don't share any affection for each other. The painting came out better than I expected, so I hope you like it. This Gemnode will play an important part in the story below, so now you have a pretty good idea of what he looks like.

Heart of Darkness

Hey everyone! I know I haven't been active recently, but hopefully I'm back! This is the next Chronicle. I know it has been a long time since my last posted chapter... So it may be a good idea to go and read "Returning to the Gemnodes" over again! This one follows directly after that one. I can promise you one thing, the Chronicle that comes after the one I am posting here gets really interesting! Lots of big events are starting to unfold. Hope you'll let me know what you think.

A Lost Father, A Lost Son

This is a relatively short Chronicle. If you have not at least read the last three... it probably won't mean much to you, but hopefully those who have read most of this story will enjoy this. It is short because it simply explores the struggle of a single side character. Though this isn't a Chronicle that "moves" the plot much, it is pretty important, so you might want to take a peak. It is about three pages in length.

Returning to the Gemnodes

I seem to be getting these out faster than usual! My pre-publish reading group got back to me very quickly concerning this one, so I am happy to be showing it on my blog. I hope you will all enjoy it. This is the first real step into the final events of my story. We still have a long way to go, but once these events start happening there is no real stopping the plot. We are done with smaller conflicts, now the real war is beginning. I hope you will like it. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, and please leave your thoughts in the comments. Anyway, here you have it.

To Save a Dragon

Alright, here is my next Chronicle! I'm actually kinda happy with this one. It is very dramatic, has some intense violence, and hopefully you'll find it suspenseful. Make sure you read the previous Chronicle first... because this one comes directly after it. I hope you enjoy it, and please leave any thoughts you have in the comments.

Homecoming Hero

WARNING: The following story is certainly rated PG-13 or worse due to intense scenes of action and violence, disturbing images, and a sequence of torture. I don't glorify violence nor do I like it, but be warned that this chronicle is more intense than most of the others.

Alright! I know it has been a LONG time since I posted a Chronicle, but there is a reason. This one is very dark. Very, very dark. Possibly the darkest one yet, and when I do that, I want to be careful to keep it balanced. I don't want violence to be glorified or taken lightly. So, if you wish to read on, just be warned that things get rather grizzly. It will get less depressing in the near future, but I do just have to let you know that this is a real low point. The chronicle is about thirteen pages in length.

One Warning

Alright! This is the continuation of the main Dsplash plot! I took a little break with the Chasing Shadows chronicle, but now it is time to bring you back up to speed after the cliffhanger. I'm super, super pleased to say that I got Inhonoredglory to pre read this before posting it and that she really enjoyed it. Hopefully you will too. It is, as other plots have been, somewhat intense, but when dealing with all-powerful foes, intensity is an occupational hazard. This focuses mostly on the Doctor, but the next Chronicle I am set to release (it just needs a little editing) will focus back on the HTTYD characters. Anyway, hope you'll let me know what you think of it!

Chasing Shadows

This is another Dsplash Chronicle. It is not very long, and it actually doesn't deal with the current main characters! But, it is important. Haha, I know I left you on a sort of cliffhanger with the last one, but this doesn't have anything to do with that! Hopefully I'll get back to the cliffhanger plot very soon, but until then this plot should hopefully prove intriguing! The characters in this story will have pretty big roles to play in the future plots. They won't ever be the main characters, but don't be surprised if the main characters come in contact with them!! One Week Later

This is my first HTTYD2 drabble... and my second ever pure HTTYD story! Funny enough, I write a lot of HTTYD fiction, but it is all Dsplash stuff, so a bunch of other characters find their way in. I'm happy with my Dsplash story (ugh, most of the time), but sometimes I just wish I was creative enough to write something good that stuck with the HTTYD universe.

Anyway, I decided to write this story soon after seeing the film. I wanted to explore Hiccup's emotions a week after the events of the second movie... especially towards Toothless. The cool thing about this story is that I wrote the first four paragraphs on J.R.R. Tolkien's DESK! This is the same desk that he wrote the entire Hobbit on and part of the Lord Of The Rings! At the end of the story, I'll post some pictures someone took of me while I was writing those first parts. I thought that was such a neat idea... to write a story of my own on the same desk that Tolkien crafted his masterpieces. Maybe some of his brilliance is stuck in the desk some how. Although... to be fair, I don't know if this story is any good. My little brother liked it, he actually said he loved it! That made me so happy...

Ok, so here is the story.

Two Months of Peace: Part III

Ok, it's been a while since I've posted my last Chronicle, and it may be a while until the next one too (not sure, depends on my mood!), but at long last I can release it to you! Sorry, it is not illustrated like my last few. I will probably make an illustration and post it sepperately, but right now I am away from home doing some work, and this work eats up a lot of time. I'm very happy to be here, but I'm just too busy to make art.

Anyway, this Chronicle has some incredibly important issues and some developments in growing character arcs. I hope you enjoy it.

Two Months of Peace. Part II

For those of you who read my Chronicles, it's back to Toothless and Hiccup! This one is a fairly calm, mostly character building one, but it's more significant than you would think! It's not too long... about eight pages worth. I'm extremely happy to be posting this and anticipate writing more. Sorry it took me a bit to get back to them, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. Feel free to post comments with thoughts or questions. I love hearing from my readers. It's really good to have this finalized, and hey, it's my third one with and illustration! Everything the Light Touches

Sorry, it's been quite a while since I last posted a Chronicle! This one isn't too long, but for those of you who haven't gotten the chance to ask around and figure out some of the history of Dsplash, this Chronicle will give you that. It serves two purposes. First, it gives you an idea of what has and is happening back in the Gemnode dimension. Second, it introduces you to a character who has been helping the "good guys" for some time, but I've not gotten the chance to talk about him properly in any Chronicle. This story is stuffed with cameos, and each cameo does have a back story, so if it triggers your curiosity, I would be happy to answer any questions left in the comments.

Two Months of Peace

Alright! This is the next of the Dsplash Chronicles. This one has probably gotten more work than most, so hopefully the effort pays off! This is also the first Chronicle I have done an illustration for, BUT I plan to do more in the future. The reason this Chronicle took me a lot of time is that I am dealing with some events and discussions that really cause characters' (even the "good" characters) worldviews to really rub against each other... and all of them have legitimate points to make even if they do not necessarily agree. The image above probably happens near the end of the Chronicle, and it depicts Hiccup, Toothless, and the Doctor listening to what Link believes should be done about the Purpose.

So... I hope you will all enjoy this! Feel free to comment! I want to give a VERY big thanks to Inhonoredglory and Toothlesslove for their help with this Chronicle! I was given quite a lot of helpful pointers, encouragements, and questions from them, and some of this is actually almost direct quotations of what Glory suggested I put in (if it has better writing style and more vivid descriptions, it is probably strongly influenced by the suggested materials she sent!). Anyway, they gave a lot of their time to help, and because of that the Chronicle is much more carefully constructed and much better at keeping the characters in character! I really can't thank them enough.

Feel free to comment if you have questions, comments, or advice. Click the "read more" to actually view the Chronicle.

One Does Not Simply Destroy a Gemnode

Alright, this is my next Dsplash Chronicle. It is VERY un-HTTYD related, but it is also sort of significant, and it shows what Hiccup's actions have unleashed. Marvel fans, this features a very famous character. Anyway, it is only five pages. More interestingly, I do have a kind of fun Snoggletog/Christmas post to make tomorrow. It has artwork, so hopefully you will all enjoy that. Just a warning, this Chronicle is a little foreboding and sad.
