Sideshow Toothless Is Here!

Well, after months of waiting, it has finally arrived! The Sideshow Toothless statue now sits heroically on my desk! My wallet feels a little, ahem, light after purchasing it, but OH BOY is it GORGEOUS. Bellow I'm gonna post the photos I have taken of it, and I'll give a quick review as well.

Video Review: CLOSE TO YOU Undertale Animation

So, this animation landed on YouTube just recently, and it is perfectly gorgeous. I am pretty sure it is my favorite Undertale animation that I've seen, so I asked the creator if I could share it here. Be warned, if you haven't played Undertale, I'd recommend NOT spoiling for yourself. It's a really great story, and it best experienced by coming into it blind. So, yeah, if you don't know the story, don't watch the video! Instead, I'd highly recommend you going and downloading Undertale. So, yeah, SPOILERS FOLLOW:

HTTYD vs LoZ Pokemon Showdown

Well, school is still crushing me under it's tyrannical boot (I feel like Hookfang vs Drago in HTTYD2!), so I haven't had much time to work on any creative projects for my blog. However, I have started playing a little bit of Pokemon online at Pokemon Showdown, a site published by smogon. It's pretty fun, and it allows me to do something with my little brother even if we are a living pretty far from one another. In this battle we both decided to make teams based on our favorites franchises! Mine was HTTYD, and he did Zelda. We didn't hold any bars on how competitive or strong our Pokemon were, we just wanted to be sure to pick ones that we felt represented our characters! Soooo... we had some super strong ones (Like Primal Groudon and Yveltal), and some that were pretty puny. It was a lot of fun to build the teams and to battle each other! So, if you'd like to see the replay, the video is posted above.

Hope you guys are having a good time. I've got to get back to studying!

(The artwork in the first image isn't mine. I wish it was! That Latios Toothless is awesome!)

One Punch Dragon

This has to be one of the most random crossovers ever. But, there you have it, my head is random and weird! This is a completed digital painting of one of the doodles I made this weekend. I had a lot of fun fleshing it out, so I hope you like it. I also recorded myself painting this, so I will place the YouTube video down below the "read more"

HTTYD Alpha system pt 2 (video)

Well this has got to be a record! I could have sworn I wouldn't get the time to make this video, but here it is! I hope you enjoy it. To those of you who frequent my blog... this will probably be old news, but I'm kinda hoping to expand my blog's readership by reaching out on other sites. If you guys have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments section. Also, if you enjoy it, feel free to go to my YouTube channel in order to like and subscribe.

Also, I did a speed art for the sake of this video, and I'll include it under the "read more"

HTTYD Alpha System pt 1 (video)

Well, I've done another YouTube video. It's nothing novel for anyone who frequents this blog, but you might be interested in hearing me ramble. This is just me introducing the topic, and it still took me 13 minutes! Also, if you'd like to like the video and subscribe to my YouTube account, that would be awesome. Please let me know what you guys think. It's kinda disorganized, and a little off the cuff, but hopefully it will still be interesting.

Dsplash Duel: Smaug v Toothless

It's time for the first Dsplash Duel! This one will pit Toothless, my favorite dragon of all time, against Smaug, the first true dragon I ever fell in love with! Special thanks to "Mr.NightFury" for the suggestion. The short story is about three pages long, and you can find it under the "read more". I did record my painting the Smaug sprite, and if you are interested, you can find that video on my YouTube channel. I plan to also potentially, make a video explaining why the fight turns out the way it does, giving the nitty-gritty details about the physics of the Gemnode's world. Now, I probably won't make a blog post for that, so stay tuned to my YouTube channel. I am not 100% sure I'll get the chance to make the analysis vid, so talons crossed. Anyway, onto the battle!

Toothless Sprite Speed Paint

Well, I've started working on the sprite arts for the upcoming Dsplash Duels. First off, unsurprisingly, is Toothless. Even if you are completely uninterested in the Dsplash story, you might at least find this somewhat fun. It's just pixel art, but I do love that art form, and it was fun to play around with. Since I was doing the painting anyway, I figured I might as well make a quick video. Consider this a teaser of more to come.

Dsplash "Warriors"

So, I have made another music video! This one is a tribute to Dimension Splash, the long running rpg and web chronicle crafted primarily by me and my younger brother (Link). I actually had this video sitting around for a long time, but I never published it because I didn't have a YouTube account. I do now, and if you'd like to subscribe to my channel, that would be great! Feel free to comment on the blog or on YouTube. I do hope to continue writing my Dsplash Chronicles, and I have one that is almost finished right now. So, hope you enjoy it! Ha... unfortunately my editing skills are not really on par with most other video makers, but hopefully it will be fun all the same!

HTTYD2: Demons

Below is  HTTYD music video that Inhonoredglory (with help from Toothlesslove) made me for my birthday/Christmas. This thing is beautiful, so I really want to share it. I'll also just list a few thoughts beneath the video.

New exclusive clip

Here is another short clip. It appeared exclusively on the german yahoo-website... in Germany! Thanks to AddyD for getting it. As far as I can see, it is mostly spoiler free. Hopefully it works here on the blog.

HTTYD2 Final Trailer

So, I felt that I might as well post the actual trailer on the blog (thanks a ton Addy for getting me the links!!). Here it is, in all its heartwarming, soul-stirring, blood-pumping, epicness and beauty.

How the Skrill was Done

This is my second attempt at making an HTTYD based music video, and it is still very tricky! However, I do think this one is a little better. I think I broke some kind of nerdy crossover record by the song I chose. It is How it Was Done from the third season of the Sherlock series (which is a good show, but I would NOT recommend watching it without editing). Haha, then mix the Skrill in there and I came out with this! I actually got the idea while walking back to my dorm late at night. It was a lengthy-ish walk, and I had my iPod headphones in. This song started playing, and I looked around and felt just a bit spooked (I have seriously bad Skrillaphobia!), so I pelted off running. After that I thought the Skrill could kinda fit the music in a funny sort of way, so I made this video. Hope you can catch some areas where I tried to make the music match the movement of the pictures (for instance, the film music goes slow when the Skrill is in captivity and then picks back up when he is free). Hope you like it!

Also, this video is 1080p, so I suppose you could open it full screen if you want to get a better look at it.

HTTYD2-Wake Me Up

Ok, so this is my first ever HTTYD music video! I used the peppy instrumental part of the song Wake Me Up. I had just recently stumbled onto the song, and I just liked it so much that I felt I had to try and do something with it. The bouncy happiness of it was really fun to work with, and even though it's got plenty of problems and isn't anything really special, I'm pleased with it! It's very short... yeah, I ran out of music! I had wanted to include some HTTYD and GotNF scenes as well (Forbidden Friendship and Toothless breaking the auto tail would have been fun), but I just din't have space for it. So, in the end, this is sorta to celebrate the fun, light, loving moments that we've gotten to see of HTTYD 2.

Toothless is feeling hungry

Hello friends!
I just felt like using my video-program again to do something dragonific.
This is what I came up with:

Let me know what you think of it in the comments below :)

Video "Dear Friend"

Hello again,

when my friend Toothless became an admin on the wiki, I just felt like putting my congratulations and my general regards to him into a little film. Before I explain, how I did this, just watch it first :)

Well then: Here's how I've done it:
  1. Preparations
    • I needed a video-cutting-application, so I bought Magix Video Deluxe 2013
    • I copied all the transcripts from Berk's Grapevine and transformed them the way I needed them (Quite a hassle, since I only had the source code of the previously downloaded pages to crawl with pretty complicated regular expressions and stuff like that...). There were some parts missing, some spelling errors and a big number of inconsistencies in formatting. I omitted everything that was not spoken, so that I only had several text files left with the names in the odd and the spoken sentences in the even lines of those text files.
    • I've programmed a little application to process those transcript-files. This program was able to order by names, by episodes and so on...
  2. Now I've written my letter to Toothless:
    Hello good old friend,
since I know that you really love quotes what I say, I thought this might be a good idea. I thought pretty long about what to say here, but no matter what: Nothing can picture our friendship that wouldn't break in a perfect way. You're one of the best friend I ever had, so thank you bud, you're amazing! It's really cool, that you're now one of the chiefs of the "Viki". Who would have thought that? As you know, if you need a hand, you can always count on me. Plus it would make me perfectly happy if you wouldn't mind let me help you. Maybe one day we both might be running it together. Well I have to admit, you're the best to draw Dragons I've ever met! You made me smile so often, that it hurt my face more than once. Yep... that's weird, I could tell. Our best idea yet was to send each other snoggletog gift(s). Write you always makes for a good day. Very well then. I hope you really enjoyed this moving picture. See you tomorrow!
  3. I looked up the words and word-groups to piece this letter together from tiny movie-snippets
  4. While piecing this together, I had to rephrase some things in my letter, because for example the word "quote" was never said in any episode, short or the movie. For this I choose a piece where Hiccup says "[...] what I say [...]"
Well... That's it :)
Let me know what you think about it in the comments :)
